About The Living Kitchen
The Living Kitchen was born out of the desire to deeply nourish people with good food. We are a collective of holistic nutritionists, chefs and cooks that specialize in making people feel their best.
Our food is prepared with whole, unprocessed, high quality and delicious ingredients. Whether managing diabetes, dealing with cancer, maintaining healthy weight for heart health, or balancing hormones, we all need food to fuel us, heal us and energize us. Most of all, food is meant to be delicious and enjoyed.
The root of health begins in the gut. Our digestive system is where food is digested and assimilated into the body to nourish all of our cells. This is also where the body removes toxins and waste. By eating foods that are rich in vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants the body is supplied with the proper nutrients it needs to maintain health. Regardless of the chronic health condition, acute illness, or dietary allergies/sensitivities that you face, eating nourishing food will support your body in recovery and/or maintaining health.

When people are recovering from diseases or trying to lose weight, they think that they have to sacrifice flavour and enjoyment or might even feel embarrassed around friends and family when it comes to meal times.
We believe that everyone deserves to love the food on their plate. If you don’t love what you are eating, it won’t nourish your body nearly as much as when you do savour every single bite. We know how to make healing and healthy food taste fantastic.
Listen to Your Body
Every body needs different nutrients and foods. There is not one diet that is best for everyone. There are so many people on this planet with different tastebuds, cells, and digestive systems that it only makes sense each body is unique and requires something slightly different.
Whole Foods are Key
Whole foods are the truest form of good food. A whole food has all of its inherent nutrients intact and is not refined or processed.
All of our cooking and recipes follow these guidelines:
- We use organic, local ingredients when possible
- All meats are naturally raised, free of antibiotics and hormones.
- We only use whole grains and absolutely no refined products.
- We only use maple syrup, honey and coconut sugar as sweeteners.
- We always use the healthiest cooking oils.
- No sugar, wheat or cow dairy.
Tamara Green, Co-Founder, Nutritionist & Chef
Tamara Green loves good food. As a weekly writer for the Food Network, Slice and as the host of the TV show, Home Cookin', Tamara knows how important it is to eat well and feel great. She was once the pickiest eater you would have ever met. Growing up on a diet full of french fries, hamburgers, pizza and chicken fingers, Tamara developed a serious case of IBS. She was in chronic pain for 9 years until she turned to food to heal herself. After being completely symptom free since 2008, it is Tamara's passion to assist people to eliminate pain, find health and eat nourishing, real good food. She combines her knowledge of nutrition and passion for cooking to work with clients to create lasting changes in their lives.
Tamara holds a BA from McGill University and later attended The Institute of Holistic Nutrition (IHN) becoming a Registered Nutritionist. Tamara is a self taught natural chef and completed IHN's holistic food preparation course.
Sarah Grossman, Co-Founder, Nutritionist & Chef
Sarah loves assisting and empowering people who are recovering from disease, as a Certified Nutritional Practitioner, experienced menu planner and recipe developer. After going through her own healing journey with endometriosis and hormonal imbalance, Sarah truly learned the power of nutritional food and is passionate about sharing that with her clients. Sarah loves food photography and you can find her photos on the Living Kitchen blog and social media platforms, as well as on Food Network Canada. Sarah also writes about nutrition, food and recipes and her cookbook, co-authored with Tamara, published by Appetite by Random House, will be coming out in January 2019.
She holds a BA with a focus in Public Health and Nutrition and graduated from the Institute of Holistic Nutrition with First Class Honours. She spent many years cooking in restaurants and combines the art of cooking with the knowledge of nutritional properties of foods. Sarah has a special interest in working with cancer, diabetes management (type 1 and type 2), as well as women's health.

Lani Sopman, Nutritionist & Personal Chef
Lani Sopman is a holistic nutritionist, pastry chef and cooking instructor specializing in natural, whole foods and healthy sweets. During her over 10-year career in the food industry she has worked in some of Toronto’s top eateries including North 44, Lee, Susur, Bonne Gordon Cakes and LPK’s Culinary Groove where she was the resident school Mistress. .
Lani’s journey to health began in her late twenties when she suffered from the Epstein Barr Virus. In an effort to gain control of her health, she went from one specialist to the next. The only solutions presented to her were allopathic medicines with tons of side effects. After three years of struggle, she finally found her journey to health through naturopathic medicine and a total lifestyle change and so, her love of healthy food and nutrition began.
